Have a favorite dog treat recipe that you would like to share? I would love to add it to my online collection of awesome recipes for dogs!
I started my blog, About Homemade Dog Treats, a few years ago and it wasn’t until a few weeks ago that a friend of mine suggested that I add a page where my readers could share their own dog treat recipes. The only thing I could say was, “Why didn’t I think of that?”
Anyway, I have added a page where you can share your favorite dog treat recipe with everyone who uses this site. I’m hoping to get enough submissions to possibly create another cookbook and add it to the series of dog treat recipe cookbooks that I have already published.
Dog Treat Recipe Book
You can see the three cookbooks below as well as an example of a recipe page that was taken from the first cookbook that was published. I had the pleasure of working on this project with a dear friend who loves dogs just as much as I do. We came up with the idea as a fundraising project to help a local animal shelter and it grew from their. We are planing on publishing another cookbook and would like to use some of the recipes that are submitted here.

So… if you are interested in having your pooch in one of these books, all you have to do is share a dog treat recipe! Once you have posted a recipe on the website you can then fill out the custom dog treat recipe card form which is necessary if you would like your dog to be a part of the cookbook.
What Kind Of Dog Treat Recipes Are We Looking For?
When it comes to the types of dog treat recipes that you can share… it’s totally up to you. There are so many different dog treat recipes out there but I think more people would rather use a recipe that has been “taste tested” by another four legged friend! Not that you can’t experiment with the recipes that you find online, That’s actually how I got started, it’s just easier when you know that someone has actually used the recipe before you.
Having said that, I have a few suggestions for those of you who would like to share a recipe, but just can’t decide. One of the most popular types of dog treats are made with peanut butter, so any dog treat recipes with peanut butter would be great! Also, on the flip side, you may want to submit dog treat recipes without peanut butter (some dogs are allergic to peanut butter). Some of the other really popular ingredients being used for homemade dog treats these days are pumpkin, banana, and even baby food! There really is no right or wrong type of recipe to submit. What ever you feel like sharing is fine with me!
Can You Submit Images Of Your Homemade Dog Treats?
Yes! In fact I would encourage this! I always having a visual aide when making anything in the kitchen so if you have a picture of your homemade dog treats you can include when you submit your dog treat recipe. Likewise, you may also want to submit a picture of your dog. The cookbooks that I published in the past only had photos of the dog’s whose owners participated. However, for our next cookbook, we would like to include images of the dog treats too. So I guess including both a picture of your dog and a picture of your dog treats would be the best way to go!
