Because Halloween is right around the corner, I thought that I would include this dog treat recipe that came from the The Collaborative Canine: Halloween Edition 2009. All of the dog recipes found within the Halloween edition were created especially for Halloween. The dogs that are featured in the cookbook are dressed in costumes as well! It’s a great keep sake and is something that you will have for ever!
This is one of my dogs favorite recipes yet! He loves peanut butter dog treats in general so I was not surprised when he went crazy for these treats!
Luna’s Peanut Butter Ghostly Surprise
Ingredients:
3/4 cup flour
1/4 cup vegetable shortening
1/4 cup rolled oats
1 egg
2 tbsp. peanut butter
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 cups yogurt chips
carob chips, 2 per ghost
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350F. Heat peanut butter until runny about 20 seconds in microwave. Mix ingredients together. Drop by teaspoon- full onto ungreased cookie sheet and shape into ghosts. Bake for 8 – 10 minutes. Cool completely. In double boiler, melt yogurt chips. Coat cookies in melted yogurt and place on parchment paper. Place 2 carob chips for ghostly eyes on each cookie. Allow to dry completely and serve.
