Simple Dog Biscuit Recipe

quick and easy dog biscuit recipesIngredients:

1 cup oatmeal

1 cup  cup rye flour

2 tbsp. brown sugar

1 tbsp. melted butter

1/2 cup almond milk

Directions: Preheat the oven to 350°F and lightly grease a cookie sheet. Combine the oatmeal, rye flour, brown sugar, and melted butter in a mixing bowl.  Gradually add the milk. Blend until dough forms. Flour a flat surface and knead the dough mixture.  Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for one hour. Sprinkle some rye flour on your flat surface (cutting board or counter top), and roll out the dough to approximately 1/4 inch in thickness. Use cookie cutters to cut the dough into shapes and place them on the cookie sheet. Bake the biscuits for 15 minutes.  Turn off the oven and allow the biscuits to cool in the oven with the door closed.  Once the biscuits are cooled, remove from the baking sheet and store in an airtight container.

Here is the video that I made today to show you exactly how to make these quick and easy dog biscuit recipes. Just a few pointers that I make in the video…

  • don’t roll the dough to thin. The oatmeal in the dough makes it break apart easily so the thicker it is the better.
  • you might want to use a metal spatula to get the treats off of the counter and onto the baking sheet. Again, the dough will break easily so using a spatula will help keep it together.
  • you can always leave the dog biscuits in the oven for a few more minutes after you turn the heat off. It allows them to dry out a bit more making them a crunchier treat!
