Easy Homemade Dog Treats

Making homemade dog treats for your pooch has never been easier. I’m going to share another one of my favorite easy homemade dog treats recipes with you today and I hope that you enjoy it!

I have been using this particular homemade dog treats recipes for years. It was actually one of the very first dog treat recipes that I ever used and because so many people said that their dog’s just loved these treats, they quickly became one of my best sellers!

homemade dog treatsThe recipe that I am sharing today is for homemade milk bone doggie treats. I happen to use whole wheat flour when making these homemade dog treats but if your dog has issues with wheat you can always substitute this with another type of flour. I also use a lot of oat flour and brown rice flour too. You can find both of these in your local supermarket but they may be a little more expensive then regular white flour or whole wheat flour. I usually buy these types of flour in bulk because I get a better deal when I do.

Anyway, here is the recipe for these tasty homemade dog treats…

Milk Bone Doggie Treats

Ingredients:

2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour

1/2 cup almond milk

1/3 cup water

1 tbsp. brown sugar

1 egg

Directions: In a mixing bowl, combine all of the ingredients until a dough forms. Dough may be a little sticky so you can add a little flour if you feel it’s necessary. Flour your surface and roll the dough into 1/4″ thickness. Cut into desired shapes. Place on parchment paper lined baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes. Turn oven off and let cookies in the oven for an additional 10 minutes. This will dry them out a bit more so they will last longer.

Aside being one of the tasty treats on my dog bakery’s menu, I like making these treats because you can cut them into just about any shape imaginable. I use this particular recipe for dog treats when making many of the seasonal treats that I sell for this reason. I’m in the process of filling an order for a local retail store that wanted 100 spring flowers. You can use paw print ribbon and tie a stack of these treats up. This is an easy way to make your dog treats look appealing to the eye. If you want to get creative, these particular homemade dog treats are also great for decorating. Healthy Homemade Dog Treats

Aside from the recipe above I also have a few homemade peanut butter dog treats recipes that you might want to try too. While peanut butter happens to be one of the most popular flavors for dog treats, it’s also one of the healthiest too. Dogs need to have a certain amount of healthy fats in their diet and peanut butter is a great source of this healthy fat. So rather than feeding your dog the processed dog treats found in the local supermarket, check out these homemade dog treats recipes and whip up a batch today!
