Having owned a Gourmet Dog Bakery for the past several years, I have a lot of experience with coming up with catchy names for homemade dog biscuits. All of the dog treats that I sell at The Beggin’ Beagle Bakery have been given a unique name to make them stand out from my competition. I have found that giving clever names to everyday dog biscuits, for example, “Beggin Beagle Biscuits” makes them more appealing to customers. These particular homemade dog treats go over especially well with beagle owners.
I wanted to share some other helpful tips with you that you can use when it comes time to create names for your own homemade dog biscuits.
If you are thinking about starting your own dog bakery business this article will be very helpful because it talks a bout a lot of small things that can actually have a huge impact on the success of your business. You’ll definitely be able to use these tips when trying to come up with names for your own homemade creations.
One of the first things that I do when I am thinking about a name for a new dog treat that I want to sell is make a list of all of the ingredients that are in the dog treats. I tend to focus on the main ingredient that is used in the dog recipe. For example, if you are planning on making homemade dog biscuits with peanut butter, then include the words “peanut butter” in the name. I named my peanut butter dog treats “Peanut Butter Puggle Prizes.” I used the same technique when I created “Cheesy Chihuahua Chews.” I knew that I wanted the name of these dog treats to have cheese in it because cheese was the main ingredient. Cheese flavored dog biscuits are one of the most popular dog treats on the market today so I wanted ours to stand out. rather than just calling them cheese dog biscuits I decided to calling them “Cheesy Chihuahua Chews.” So this name not only caught the eye of dog owners who have pets that love cheese, it also brought in tons of excited Chihuahua owners that were just thrilled to buy dog treats in the shape of little Chihuahua’s!!
This brings me to my next point…
Another important feature of the dog treat that I take into consideration when coming up with a name for it is the actual shape of the dog treat. One of the most popular shapes of dog biscuits is the traditional dog bone. While I would definitely recommend carrying these popular style treats at your dog bakery, I would also recommend including other interesting shapes specific to each type of treat. For example, our Cheesy Chihuahua Chews are actually made in the shape of a Chihuahua. (Hint: If you want your dog treats to be a bit more chewy… simply add a little baking soda. This will give the treats a chewy texture.)
Texture is another feature that will help you when naming your homemade dog biscuits. Another one of our popular dog treats at the bakery are our “Crunchy Beagle Bites.” These dog biscuits are bit harder than the Cheesy Chihuahua Chews and they are known for the crunch that you’ll hear when your dog bites into them!
